Shirley North Safer Neighbourhood Police Team report an increase locally in the theft of vehicle registration plates. The team are doing as much as possible to combat this crime but say to check your vehicle plates are secure as most are now just stuck on.

The team have had a recent success based on intelligence from the community, where a number of people were arrested for production of cannabis, possession of cannabis, prohibited weapon, possession with intent to supply and money laundering.
Shirley Neighbourhood Watch report a recent gardening and landscaping fraud. A local resident was approached by a man delivering leaflets, saying he and his colleagues were tree surgeons and landscapers. She asked for a quote to replace decking, which she accepted as they said they could start immediately. Money was handed over for the materials. The fraudsters dismantled the decking saying they would be back to complete the job. They never returned and the Sidcup address on the leaflets proved to be that of an innocent company. Beware such transactions!
